More Fake News: Anttioxidant Supplements Kill

This sort of Big Pharma propaganda comes out from time to time.  Bill Sardi explains why this newest attempt to malign dietary supplements is just more fake news.
If you think President Donald Trump is getting unfairly slammed by fake news stories distributed by major news media consider the predicament of vitamin shop owners today who have been branded as “killers” in a news report that is being widely circulated today.

The evidence is not new. But the researchers said: “our study has given a comprehensive description of the response capacity (of the human body) for the first time.” This reporter published a descriptive article in 2014 on the same subject at KnowledgeofHealth.com.

The news story emanating from the report published in Redox Biology was quite different than the actual research.

The news report said: “Antioxidant don’t work as billed,” referring to oral antioxidant supplements. Read more

Super Tea Has 10X the Antioxidants of Regular Green Tea

Green tea is a well-known source of antioxidants, but a new "super tea" has been found to have even more health benefits.
Most Natural News readers know and understand the health benefits of green tea, but a new kind of "super tea" has been found to have as much as ten times more antioxidant content than regular green tea.

As reported by Fox News, the antioxidants in green teas have long been known to dramatically improve heart health and brain function, but now researchers have found that matcha, a powder made from young green tea leaves that are placed in shade two to four weeks before harvesting, contain several times more antioxidants. Better Than Vitamin C?

Axtaxanthin is the most potent antioxidant nature has to offer, says Joseph Mercola.
A little-known carotenoid called astaxanthin is now believed to be the most potent antioxidant nature has to offer. Astaxanthin's benefits are so numerous, I've written several articles to cover its many activities, from UV-radiation protection, to eye- and heart health, to improved athletic performance.

It is one of the very few supplements I recommend to virtually everyone, for its overall health benefits. It's really one of the most profoundly beneficial supplements I've ever encountered.

In terms of antioxidant power or potency, astaxanthin is 550 times stronger than vitamin E, and 6,000 times stronger than vitamin C! Read more

CoQ10: The Energy Antioxidant

Margaret Durst explains why everyone needs CoQ10, especially as we age.
Coenzyme Q10 provides energy for the body’s cell growth and maintenance. It is a valuable antioxidant that is normally produced by all cells in the body, but is much more abundant in the heart, liver and immune system.

As we age, our ability to produce Co Q10 seems to decline. Low levels of Co Q10 have been linked to several chronic diseases such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, congestive heart failure, and cardiovascular disease. Low levels of Co Q10 are also linked to people with severe allergies, auto immune disorders and muscular dystrophy. Read more

Anti-Aging Superfoods for a More Youthful Appearance

Want to look ten years younger? Make antioxidant-rich superfoods part of your daily diet.
The entire ageing process, from your first wrinkle to deteriorating memory, depends on oxidation, a process in which damaging free radicals, the body’s own exhaust fumes, begin to wear down the DNA. However, promising research has shown that we can slow down ageing in just about every system of the body by eating antioxidant nutrients that offset some of the damage that time and lifestyle inflict on our bodies and minds.

The Age-Defying Diet

Want to knock off 5lb and 10 years in two weeks? Then follow this eating plan (with recipes) from The Sunday Times that not only your skin, eyes and hair will thank you for, but also your waistline.
... There are many advantages to taking vitamins in food rather than in pill form. When you eat, you do not get isolated nutrients. For instance, a bowl of leafy greens provides an abundance of vitamins B, K and E, as well as fibre and antioxidants. The fresh fruit, vegetables and whole grains that provide fibre also deliver vitamins and minerals naturally. Your diet has a direct impact, not only on your overall health and how you feel, but also on how you look.

What to eat

You need to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner every day, and snack only if you need to, but in sensible portions, please. Remember, no cheating — so that’s no booze, no chocs and no straying from the plan. Read more

Vitamin C Gives Staying Power To Green Tea Antioxidants

Adding citrus juices enable to green tea enables more of its antioxidants to remain after digestion.
A study found that citrus juices enable more of green tea's unique antioxidants to remain after simulated digestion, making the pairing even healthier than previously thought.

The study compared the effect of various beverage additives on catechins, naturally occurring antioxidants found in tea. Results suggest that complementing green tea with either citrus juices or vitamin C likely increases the amount of catechins available for the body to absorb.

"Although these results are preliminary, I think it's encouraging that a big part of the puzzle comes down to simple chemistry," said Mario Ferruzzi, assistant professor of food science at Purdue University and the study's lead author. Read more

Remember, though, that adding milk to tea reduces its health benefits.
