Researchers claim drinking one cup of coffee each morning could ward of dementia and Parkinson's.

The benefits are particularly strong for people who opt for darker roasted beans - even if it's decaffeinated, the study found.

The coffee roasting process releases chemicals which counter proteins responsible for the development of the diseases, scientists discovered.

Harvard Scientists Say Coffee Could Halve the Risk of Suicide

Harvard scientists say coffee could halve risk of suicide. A study spanning two decades and surveying 200,000 men and women suggests a protective effect of caffeine.
Drinking several cups of coffee a day could halve the risk of suicide in men and women, scientists from Harvard suggest

In a study published by the Word Journal of Biological Pyschiatry, researchers analysed the caffeine consumption of more than 200,000 people spanning a period of nearly 20 years.

They found that, for both men and women, those who took in 400mg of the stimulant a day – the equivalent of two to three cups of coffee – were statistically 50 per cent less likely to commit suicide. Read more

Swedish researcher say that drinking three cups of coffee a day may shrink women's breasts. Since they didn't have the bust measurements prior to the women in the study starting to drink coffee, all they actually found was a correlation between coffee drinking and breast size, not proof that drinking coffee shrinks breasts. Even so, it's something to think about.

Nearly 300 women were surveyed by researchers from Sweden's Lund University about their bust measurements and how many cups of coffee they drank in an average day.

Patients coming to the Whitaker Wellness Institute sometimes express surprise that we serve coffee. Doesn't it increase the body's acidity? Aren't health-conscious people supposed to drink tea instead? Isn't caffeine bad for you?

If coffee were harmful, then every morning emergency rooms around the world would be choked with people suffering the ill effects of our favorite breakfast beverage. Of course, this isn't the case. Chocolate, coffee and tea are among the key foods and drinks needed to live a long and healthy life, according to a leading nutritional scientist.
Professor Gary Williamson, from the department of food science at Leeds University, has produced a list of 20 "lifespan essential" foodstuffs.
