Buy a Cheap Mattress, Have a Late Night, Toss Your Pillow
If you want a good night's sleep, it's time to throw out the rule book, according to David Beckham's sleep coach.
For the past 30 years, I’ve dedicated my life to sleep. I’ve been teaching sports stars from David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo to Victoria Pendleton and Laura Trott how to get the most out of their sleep.
What I’ve discovered is that much of the talk about sleep is nonsense. The secrets of waking up feeling rested don’t lie in spending as much as you can afford on a mattress or in trying to get eight hours a night.
In fact, if you really want a good night’s sleep — and who doesn’t? — it’s time to throw out the rule book and start again.
My top tips might sound contrary to common sense, but they’re the best you’ll ever hear… Read more

Essential Oils for Insomnia
If you suffer from insomnia, essential oils may solve the problem rather than just treat the symptoms, according to Raw Michelle.
Tossing and turning without falling asleep can be more than annoying, as even a few restless nights can wreck havoc on your mind and body.

5 Yoga Poses for Better Sleep
If you’re having trouble getting to sleep at night, a simple way to de-stress could be performing this short yoga routine.
After a long, stressful day at the office, it can be challenging to relax in the evening. Some people turn to an alcoholic drink or two to unwind, but that can actually make it harder to get restful sleep. A vigorous workout can help ease stress, but if done too close to bedtime you may actually have some trouble falling asleep. Although some styles of yoga (such as vinyasa yoga with sun salutations) can be considered vigorous and should be avoided before bedtime, practicing a few gentle, relaxation-inducing postures, along with deep breathing, can help ready you for a good night’s sleep. Keep a yoga mat rolled up by your bedside, and spend about 20 minutes before bed performing these poses. Read more

Using Herbs to Cure Insomnia and to Stay Asleep
If you suffer from insomnia, sleeping pills are not the only answer. Merlyn Seeley reveals how herbs can cure insomnia and help you to stay asleep.
Some time ago there was this woman from the US that said she had trouble sleeping and not just going to sleep but staying asleep as well as waking to find that she felt like she had not even slept at all. She went on to state that she had a few friends that had visited a Buddhist monastery and learned to meditate. She said that the two friends came back home and from that day on had the best sleep in their lives and never again had any sleep problems. Now this is a true story but what did the two ladies find that caused their lives to change so much? The answer is they found peace of mind. With the meditation they had learned from the monks they were able to control their thoughts and calm their minds, when a mind becomes calm the body follows along. Read more

5 Things to Know about Sleep
Americans are supposedly sleep-deprived, but are we actually a nation of zombies? You'll rest easier knowing these recent sleep-related findings.
Here are five recent findings that might help you rest easier:
1. We sleep better than we think we do
For most of us, sleep deprivation is a myth. We're not zombies. The non-profit National Sleep Foundation (which takes money from the sleep-aid industry, including drug companies that make sleeping pills) says the average U.S. resident gets 7 hours a night and that's not enough, but a University of Maryland study earlier this year shows we typically get 8 hours and are doing fine. In fact, Americans get just as much sleep nowadays as they did 40 years ago, the study found. Read more
