It’s been used for centuries as a folk medicine, largely because of its anti-inflammatory properties. The oil of frankincense has been used for thousands of years to treat and prevent disease-causing inflammation, boost immunity, and prevent dangerous infections. Read more

Does Your Dentist Still Use Toxic Mercury?

If your dentist still uses mercury fillings, you may want to find a new one. Dr. David Brownstein says mercury is so toxic that it should be banned in dentistry.
(I am sorry that I have been lax at posting new articles here. What is my excuse? I have been finishing up a new book–book number 14– and I hope to go to print this week. Later this week, I will send you more information about this project.)

I honestly can’t believe I am still writing about this topic. Why anyone could think that mercury, one of the most toxic substances known to mankind, is safe to use as a dental filling is beyond ridiculous. Read more

Buy a Cheap Mattress, Have a Late Night, Toss Your Pillow

If you want a good night's sleep, it's time to throw out the rule book, according to David Beckham's sleep coach.
For the past 30 years, I’ve dedicated my life to sleep. I’ve been teaching sports stars from David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo to Victoria Pendleton and Laura Trott how to get the most out of their sleep.

What I’ve discovered is that much of the talk about sleep is nonsense. The secrets of waking up feeling rested don’t lie in spending as much as you can afford on a mattress or in trying to get eight hours a night.

In fact, if you really want a good night’s sleep — and who doesn’t? — it’s time to throw out the rule book and start again.

My top tips might sound contrary to common sense, but they’re the best you’ll ever hear… Read more

Trying to Get Pregnant? Avoid Diet Drinks

A study has found that women who regularly consume artificial sweeteners reduce their chance of getting pregnant and increased the chance of birth defects.
Diet drinks may reduce a woman's chance of getting pregnant during IVF, a study suggests.

Would-be mothers who opted for pop with artificial sweeteners, or put sugar substitutes in hot drinks, produced poorer eggs and embryos, researchers said.

While it is widely believed taking artificial sweeteners is healthier than taking sugar, both options raised the risk of an embryo being found to have at least one deformity. Read more

14 Uses for Castor Oil

Dr. Joseph Mercola reveals fourteen practical reasons to keep a bottle of castor oil at home.
Many of you are probably familiar with castor oil as the go-to concoction that old-time healers recommend for a wide range of ailments — from constipation to colds and fever, and even as treatment against parasitical worms.1 Castor oil is claimed to be one of the best remedies there is.

I have previously written about the mysteries — and potential health uses — of castor oil, and despite having minimal research backing up its potential medicinal effects, I do believe that there are notable benefits from using this versatile oil.

It’s one of the most well-known natural remedies with a long enough history to at least warrant greater scientific exploration — nevertheless, a little careful at-home experimentation before using it wouldn’t hurt. Read more

10 Ways to Use Epsom Salts

Epsom salts is a cheap, old-fashioned remedy, but it still has plenty of uses today, according to Gaye Levy..

3 Natural Remedies for the Flu

Although the claim that 30,000 people die from the flu each year in the U.S. is a lie, flu is still a miserable experience. Have these three natural remedies on hand in case you do come down with a case.
In the September 16, 2016 Parade Magazine there was an article on “Boost your Flu IQ”. While the article had some good points such as reduce the amount of times you touch your face and to thoroughly dry your hands after washing, it was the number one thing they stated “You should do to prevent the flu” that as a nutrition professional I beg to differ with.

Dr. Grohskopf, a medical officer in the Influenza Division of the CDC said “getting the flu shot is the single best thing you can do to protect yourself against the flu and prevent its spread” She went on to say that if you do get the flu, your symptoms “could be” less severe Read more

Coconut oil has a pleasant scent, and besides being very economical, it’s an amazingly versatile and therapeutic substance. Since the mid-1990s, roughly, coconut oil for a number of applications, such as cleansing, deodorizing and healing, has been growing in the larger population. Read more
