6 Natural Acne Remedies

Acne is a skin condition that affects over 80% of people. Factors such as stress, poor diet, make-up and cosmetics, hormone fluctuations, dietary deficiencies, and poor hygiene can all cause acne to flare up and get worse. Acne treatments may use different approaches to eliminate pimples and blackheads. They may attempt to unclog pores, reduce oil production, or eliminate acne-producing bacteria, but some natural acne remedies also work from the inside out. Here are six natural acne treatments to consider using or combining with other solutions.

1) Stay hydrated.

If you aren’t drinking enough water, your skin will show it. Water helps your skin to eliminate toxins, helps with balancing hormones, improves circulation to the skin, aids the digestive system, among other things. Try to drink about eight cups of water each day.

2) Increase vitamin A intake.

Vitamin A is crucial for overall skin health. In addition to reducing the production of sebum, vitamin A has antioxidant properties, which helps to prevent acne by ridding the skin of acne-producing bacteria. You can find vitamin A in green and yellow vegetables. It can also be taken in supplement form.

3( Increase zinc intake.

Zinc is not only great for your immune health, but being deficient in this important mineral can also cause acne breakouts. Foods containing zinc include pumpkin seeds, dark chocolate, sea food, nuts, and meats.

4) Apply apple cider vinegar.

When you have a blemish that you want to heal as quickly as possible, spot treat it with apple cider vinegar by simply applying a little ACV with a Q-tip.

5) Apply thyme tea as an astringent.

Thyme has astringent properties, which makes it a great toner for oily skin. After washing your face thoroughly, apply thyme tea with a cotton ball. Use thyme regularly and you’ll experience less oil production over time.

6) Use turmeric.

Turmeric, a spice that comes from the ginger family, has strong antiseptic and antibacterial properties. Turmeric comes in pill or paste form.

If you find your acne unresponsive to topical solutions, check your diet. Processed foods and dairy products are frequent acne triggers. Your skin needs to be kept clean from the outside, but all the spot treatments and facials in the world won’t help if you aren’t treating it from the inside too.
